Napier Art Deco Days

On Friday & Saturday March 15th & 16th we drove up to Napier and watched the annual Art Deco Days.  It was really fun since there were some 9 other couples in attendance.

It started with a brunch organized  by Elder & Sister Farnes who live in Hastings.  It was put on by a group of sisters.

We were greeted by Elder & Sister Farnes in Art Deco attire

We were then welcomed by President & Sister Kezerian

After the welcome Overton's, who left the following week,
 bore their testimonies

The food spread was terrific as were the hostesses

If you see a non-smiling face, it wasn't the foods fault

Here we all are after dinner!

Next we went out to Taka Walker's workshop.
He's a master Maori carver.

After viewing the carvings, we proceeded to the top
of a nearby hill to view all of Hawkes Bay.  As you can
see from the photos below the view was breathtaking

Way off in the distance..about 25km..is Napier and "Art Deco"

We all caught an early dinner

After dinner it was off to view the old cars and people.
I'll make a few comments, but enjoy the fun times!
The people were more than happy to pose for a photo!

Doesn't this couple look familiar?
It's the Farnes and they fit right in!

Even the little guys get into the action

Don't know where they found this guy,
but he looks like he's home in Tennessee

All led up to a fantastic air show from vintage aircraft
and the crowd was ready for the spectacle

The following morning the Farnes put on a great breakfast
and we all departed for our various homes...
Thanks Elder & Sister Farnes for a great time!
