Milford Sound to Queenstown

After spending a great night and morning on the Milford Mariner we travel back to Te Anau and on to Queenstown as you can see in black on the map below.

Highlights of this Days trip included:
  • The trip up to Homer Tunnel and final moments in the high mountains.
  • Down the eastern side of the Darran Mountains into Te Anau
  • On to Queenstown from Te Anau with a stop in Kingston for lunch
The top of the mountains with their jagged peaks.

Here we are with Mt. Talbot in the background.

Down from the mountains into the Livingstone Range.

Lake Te Anau, largest lake on the south island.

Here's some last pictures leaving Milford Sound

Up and through Homer Tunnel and down out of the mountains

The Kea is the only Alpine Parrot in the world.  They seem to get hot and bothered by rubber on cars.
