Mt. Cook to Queenstown

We drove from Mt. Cook to Queenstown and shown below in blue on our map.

Highlights of this days trip included:
  • Seeing Mt. Cook behind us in the blue sky
  • Breakfast in Twizel...great food and hot chocholate along with a neat "Mom & Pop" hunting/fishing store that had to be visited
  • A drive through Central Otega #92 on the 101 Kiwi Weekend list and over Lidis Pass and through "Middle Earth" from "Lord of the Rings"
  • A stop in Cromwell, the fruit capital of New Zealand where we had real fresh fruit icecream that was superb!
  • Stop at a goldmine on the Kawarau River, film sight of "Pillars of the Kings" in "Lord of the Rings"
  •  All was capped off with a great dinner in the Skyline Restaurant in Queenstown
