Queenstown & Surroundings

We stayed in the Queenstown area all day Tuesday and found plenty to keep us busy.  Our pathway is noted below on the map in yellow.

Highlights of this days trip include:
  • A trip to Arrowtown to visit the old mining community where we had an unplanned treat...a craft show in the local park.  This is #44 on the 101 Kiwi Weekends list.
  • A "Never Forget It" jet boatride on the Shotover River.
  • Lunch at Fergburgers in downtown Queenstown.
  • An afternoon trip to Glenorchy where a number of "Lord of the Ring's" filmsites are.  This is #34 on the 101 Kiwi Weekends list.
  • Some quality walk time in Queenstown where the TSS Earnslaw makes its port.  These are #36 and #46 on the 101 Kiwi Weekends list.
  • Other 101 Kiwi Weekends spots in Queenstown include
  • #94 Golf at the "Alpine Ampitheatre
  • #54 a visit to Hollyford Valley
  • #48 skiing at Coronet Peak

This is the Shotover Jeatboat Ride...WOW!!!  65 miles an hour across the top of the water.  Only 5" of water is needed and there is no rudder.  Two jets steer the boat and you do 360's on a moments notice!
