October 2012 YSA Temple Trip

Something we've wanted to do with the Young Single Adults is drive up to Hamilton and do some baptisms and confirmations at the Temple.  We got that opportunity just last weekend - October 26th & 27th.  It's about 350 miles north on two-lane roads, no freeway.  The average speed was about 55mph so do the math and you've got nearly 7 hours but a lot of fun!
Here's the group...Elder Overton, Guy, Zeranya, Sister Overton, Chelsea, Ann, Jasmin, Grace, Destany, Alison and me

Interesting work on the power lines

We passed just south of Mt. Tahurangi

This is Mt. Ngauruhoe...for the Lord of the Rings folks, this is actually Mt. Doom in the middle of Mordor.  This active valcano erupted just a few months ago and the area was evacuated.

Sisters' McVey & Overton having fun on the trip

Grace wasn't so sure of my driving...Safe, but aggresive!

A stop for lunch along the way
Ann, Jasmin & Chelsea

More lunch...Alison, Grace, Zeranya, Overton's & Destany

Guy was the lone male

Here Chelsea and Jasmin rest under a Moa

Hamilton Temple by night

Here we all are after an early evening session

A closer view

Guy went through for his own "Endowment"...he's headed to Portugal on a mission in about 6 weeks...we'll miss him!

There was even a little time for some fun!
